THO Condemns the January 1st Terror Attack in Istanbul

Turkish Heritage Organization strongly condemns the terror attack at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul that claimed 39 lives in the early hours of January 1st.
Along with many of its neighbors, Turkey suffered numerous tragedies in 2016, and we at THO join Turkey and the international community in its sadness at seeing a new year marred so early by violence.
We extend our deepest condolences to the injured and the families of those affected as well as to the nation of Turkey in this difficult time. During this period of exceptional violence in Turkey, we express our dedication to supporting a strong and productive U.S.-Turkey partnership that will allow for prosperity and security in both Turkey and the U.S.
As such, we call on all parties in both Turkey and the U.S. to maintain respectful and rational discourse following the recent attack in Istanbul. In particular, accusations in the Turkish media of U.S. government involvement in the attack are counterproductive and threaten to damage U.S.-Turkey relations while hindering ongoing efforts to ensure that the individuals responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
Both the U.S. and Turkey are allies in the fight against Daesh, and both countries have been victims of the terror group’s heinous attacks. It is essential that both the governments and publics of the U.S. and Turkey stand side by side to combat Daesh terror.
