Future of Turkey - U.S. Trade Relations08 Oct 20
On Thursday, October 8, THO hosted a webinar on the Future of Turkey-U.S. Trade Relations, featuring His Excellency Riza Tuna Turagay, the Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade. The conversation was moderated by former THO Fellow Danielle Khan.
THO was honored to host Deputy Minister Turagay for this discussion of bilateral trade relations between Turkey and the United States. The conversation ranged from Turkey's economic adjustment to the Covid-19 pandemic and what Deputy Minister Turagay said was a good chance for a "V-shaped" recovery, to the diversification of Turkish energy imports, and also included discussion of the mutual goal of both the United States and Turkey to see the trade volume between the two countries grow from some $20 billion to $100 billion. Deputy Minister Turagay highlighted that Turkey's strong manufacturing base, skilled labor force, dynamic population, and geographic location will aid Turkey in reaching this aspirational goal.
