Co-hosted by the Turkish Heritage Organization, Dr. Oktay’s visit to the Georgetown University was well received by faculty and students.
Dr. Oktay provided detailed information on the status of the Syrian refugees. He said that
Turkey really needs the support of the international community to build capacity in the healthcare and education systems and asked Georgetown students to raise the level of awareness in Washington so that these objectives could be achieved.
Faculty members and students indicated interest in doing academic research projects at the refugee camps and asked THO President Danışmaz to establish a joint program with the university. Danışmaz said that THO will be working with officials on both sides to run a pilot program.
