On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, THO hosted a webinar on “Transatlantic Alliance: Challenges and Opportunities”. Featuring the former U.S Ambassador to Azerbaïjan, Robert Cekuta, Senior Policy Analyst at the Heritage Foundation, Daniel Kochis, and Chair Department of International Relations at the Middle East University, Dr. Oktay Tanrısever.

THO was honored to host three experts of U.S-Turkey relations, to stress the dynamics of the Transatlantic Alliance during the pandemic and afterward. This insightful discussion highlighted the state of the NATO alliance, the Black sea energy policy, diplomatic cooperation and challenges, and the newest partnerships with China and Russia.

As the upcoming U.S Presidential election questions the future of U.S foreign policy, our panelists agreed on the importance of a continuous diplomatic dialogue. For M. Cekuta, Washington D.C should continue building on a trustful and comprehensive relationship with other nations, including Turkey. Dr. Oktay Tanrısever added that this cooperation must be multisectoral, such as in intelligence and security. According to M. Kochis, the private sector would play a crucial role in reshaping the international supply chain safety in the post-COVID-19 area.
