At a roundtable organized by THO, Prof. Dr. Gulnur Aybet discussed U.S.-Turkey relations with former government officials and prominent academics
On September 22, 2017, THO organized a roundtable discussion featuring Prof. Dr. Gulnur Aybet (Senior Adviser to the Turkish President and Professor of International Relations at Yildiz Technical University) at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
During the roundtable, Prof. Dr. Aybet discussed key developments in U.S.-Turkey relations and Turkish foreign policy with former U.S. government and EU officials and prominent academics, including Dr. Steven E. Miller, Dr. Stephen M. Walt, and Dr. Gary Samore.
The discussion touched upon Turkey’s Syria strategy, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) independence referendum, and the Turkish government’s fight against Fethullah Gulen and his followers, labeled the Fethullah Gulen Terror Organization (FETO).
Also in attendance was Turkey’s Consul General in Boston, Omur Budak. THO President Ali Cinar chaired the roundtable.
